Tesla Inc.‘s TSLA Vice President of Investor Relations Martin Viecha said on Thursday that he would leave the company after its annual shareholder meeting on Thursday, roughly two months after he publicly announced his resignation.

What Happened: Viecha on Thursday said in a post on social media platform X that the shareholder meeting will be his final day at the EV company. The senior executive added that he wouldn’t be present in Austin for the annual shareholder meeting scheduled for June 13, 4:30 p.m. ET but will instead be watching the live stream at home.

Viecha did not detail his plans but said that he intends to travel for some time. The past 6 weeks ahead of the annual shareholder meeting were immensely stressful with the shareholder vote on several key proposals including CEO Elon Musk‘s $56 billion pay package, he added.

“Thanks for all your support over the years. Over and out,” Viecha wrote in his farewell post. Musk also thanked Viecha.

Why It Matters: Viecha publicly announced his departure during Tesla's first-quarter earnings call in April. While he did not specify his departure timeline then, he indicated that he would not participate in the second quarter’s earnings call.

Viecha has been Tesla’s VP of Investor Relations for nearly seven years, having joined the EV maker in October 2017. He will be replaced by Travis Axelrod who is currently senior staff program manager of investor relations at the company. Axelrod joined the EV company months after Viecha in April 2018.
